Description
This project for a restaurant terrace in Port Vell was designed to be much more than just a plant installation.
Given its location in a confined space, with a floating deck and no railings over the sea, the design had to prioritize people’s safety, preventing falls without sacrificing the aesthetic appeal of the surroundings.
The solution focused on maintaining an interesting design that harmonized with the restaurant’s interior. The floor-to-ceiling height was utilized by installing columns with curved profiles and bases that allowed for planters at different levels, adding depth and dynamism to the space.
The selection of plants was based on a low-maintenance approach. The installation of an irrigation system was ruled out, relying instead on resilient species capable of adapting to the location’s conditions without compromising aesthetics or the cleanliness of the design.
The project included cacti, various varieties of rhipsalis, sansevierias, and trailing sedum, commonly known as "blue chalk sticks." These species provided a balanced contrast of colors and textures, compensating for the absence of flowers and giving the space a modern and sophisticated feel.
